Where past meets present: our heritage unfolds

Bormio is unique among Alpine resorts: at the foot of the ski slopes lies a thousand-year-old town rich in art and culture, where ancient traditions still thrive. This is no anonymous ski resort, but an authentic Alpine village ready to welcome skiers and visitors with genuine warmth and character.

After a morning on the slopes, treat yourself to a stroll through Bormio's historic centre. The ancient square is dominated by the thousand-year-old civic tower with its grand clock and the Kuerc, a covered arcade where town meetings were once held and justice was dispensed. Along every street, Alpine architectural details catch the eye: carved wooden doorways, frescoes, fountains, historic washing places and churches stretch as far as the eye can see. Don't miss the fascinating entrance to the old town: the Combo Bridge, a stone arch bridge built directly into the rock face.

Throughout the year, Bormio comes alive with unique and spectacular traditions, most notably the Pasquali: on Easter Sunday, locals of all ages don traditional costume as each quarter of the town processes through the streets, proudly bearing ornate religious sculptures - known as Pasquali - handcrafted by local artisans throughout the year.

For museum lovers, you're spoilt for choice: from natural history and geology to local heritage and traditional costumes - Bormio's museums offer something for every interest!
