Balance. Valdisotto is for everyone who loves sport, nature, history, art and tradition. You couldn’t ask for anything more, its variety will blow you away
Valdisotto is nature. Valleys, lakes, streams and springs create spellbinding scenery. From the Paluaccio Nature Reserve in Oga to Lake Libellule (Dragonfly lake) at Le Motte, from Lake Campaccio to the tour of Vallecetta, nature takes centre stage. And that’s just the start.
Valdisotto is history. And that history stretches very far back, as demonstrated by the Coppelle path on Mount Vallecetta, with its prehistoric engravings. And then there’s Fort Venini at Oga, built in the early 1900s, now home to a museum full of relics, historic photographs and records relating to the Great War.
Valdisotto is art. The Church of St. Bartholomew, a lone witness to the 1987 Monte Coppetto landslide; the Cepina Ossuary, with its beautiful wrought iron railings, and the tiny Church of St. Peter are just some of the highlights that make this area unique.
Valdisotto is tradition. Small, pretty hamlets, like Monte, take you back to the old rural way of life. As does cupeta, a traditional dessert made on St. Lucy’s day in Santa Lucia.
Valdisotto is sport. In the summer: hiking and mountain biking (including downhill), road cycling and roller skiing. In the winter: snowshoeing, ski touring and Alpine skiing on Mount Vallecetta from Bormio 2000 to Cima Bianca, and San Colombano. It is also home to the only go-karting rink in the area.
Valdisotto is fun for all the family, with various sports centres, like the Oga Summer Park and the Sports Centre at Santa Lucia.
In short, Valdisotto is...just waiting to be discovered.
