Closed for the winter season. Reopening: late May 2026
The Umbrail Pass (2,503 meters) connects the Upper Valtellina to the Engadine. Entering it from the IV° Cantoniera at the Stelvio Pass, 4 km from the summit, it is certainly one of the alpine passes around Bormio most beloved by cyclists and motorcyclists, as the best cyclists of all time have competed here. It was also featured in the Giro d'Italia 2017.
Crossing the entire pass, you immediately enter Swiss territory in the direction of Santa Maria, in the beautiful Monastery Valley.
