The Races
Sprint Race
Circuit of a duration of about 3’/3’30” which includes an ascent with skins, a section on foot with skis in the backpack, a section with skis and skins, and a descent with directional gates; maximum elevation gain of 70 m. The race is conducted with qualifying phases (individuals), quarter-finals heats, semi-finals, and finals. All heats consist of 6 athletes from quarter-finals to finals.
Mixed Relay Race
Circuit of a duration of about 8/10’ which includes two ascents (the second includes a section on foot with skis in the backpack) and two descents; maximum elevation gain of 150 m; the team consists of one man and one woman who alternately cover the course 2 times (the woman starts in the first leg).
The race consists of a qualification phase (individual; the times achieved by the 2 team members are summed) followed by a final A and a final B (optional, decided by the ISMF race jury); 12 teams compete in the final.
