If you are an experienced cross-country skier, you will love the 5 km and 10 km loops featuring 190 m and 390 m of ascent/descent on the competition course. Thanks to the special climate of Santa Caterina Valfurva, these pistes are in perfect condition from November to the end of March. Remember that we are up at altitude, between 1,740 m and 1,820 m!
Interesting facts
Did you know that the Pista Valtellina hosted the cross-country skiing World Cup finals? Once in 2001 and again in 2008. It has also hosted the first race of the Coppa Italia for more than 30 years! The competition course has been honed over the years by the capable hands of Benito Moriconi, the coach of great Italian skier Manuela Di Centa who used this piste for training in preparation for her many victories.
The piste for pleasure
If, on the other hand, you are a newcomer to cross-country skiing, the tourist course with 2, 3 and 5km loops is for you.
The easy loop winds its way across the Santa Caterina Valfurva plateau. Everyone loves this loop through this dense pine forest covered in a thick blanket of snow, especially children! And to round it all off, in the centre of the ski arena there is a well-equipped beginners’ area which is open to all, where you can have your first go in safety and at your own pace.
