From the Berni hut on the Gavia road located at 2541 m, descend to the bridge below over the Gavia stream and ascend near the ruined former Gavia hut. Continue halfway along the Pian Bormino to a saddle at elevation 2637 m that allows you to enter the Dosegu' Valley. Descend to the plateau below, losing about a hundred meters of elevation gain, and continue halfway up to the base of a rocky bank, which you pass on the right, climbing a steep slope and then continue to the left, gradually bringing you to the base of the Dosegu' vedretta. Now, climb the steep slope above to the right of the seracade, thus reaching a semi-flat area, where bending to the left in a northwesterly direction you continue, keeping a good distance from the slopes above. Arriving at the base of the rocky cusp of Punta San Matteo, point to the obvious saddle on the northwest ridge of the mountain. From here traverse to the right to the base of the rocky crags and climb the short gully back to the ridge, which following it leads to the summit.
