Are you interested in history and the way life used to be? Then do not miss the opportunity to visit the Museo Civico di Bormio and the Museo Vallivo della Valfurva. And if you are interested in nature, then you will want to visit the Museo Mineralogico and the “Rezia” Alpine botanical garden in Bormio, as well as the Stelvio National Park visitor centre in San Antonio Valfurva.
To learn more about the First World War and its effect on the region, you can visit Forte Venini in Oga and the Carlo Donegani historical museum on the Stelvio pass.
The Museo dei Sanatori in Sondalo is surely a one-of-a-kind, set up to tell the story of the sanatorium founded here in the early 1900s. Another unusual museum is the Casa Museo Tessera with its huge collection of hats from all around the world.
Deep below the centre of Bormio are the fascinating cellars of Braulio, filled with the enormous Slavonian oak barrels that are used to age the liqueur. Bràulio is a bitter liqueur which was created in Bormio more than 140 years ago. Its story began in the pharmacy of Dr Giuseppe Peloni, a great expert in aromatic herbs.
