Altitude, air and climate. These are the things that differentiate Sondalo from the other hiking trails around the Bormio valleys. Get ready for some revitalising walks.
Over half of the Sondalo territory is a protected area as part of the Stelvio National Park. This context, combined with the lower altitudes compared to the other valleys around Bormio, the milder climate and the historically healthier air, make Sondalo a reinvigorating place to visit.
Of all the hiking and biking excursions that Sondalo has to offer, here are two of the most beautiful and representative of the area.
Val di Rezzalo
The classic hiking trip from Sondalo. It is also one of the most beautiful valleys in the Stelvio National Park. Here the presence of mankind is still noticeable, with its rural settlements that are still well maintained.
A visit to the Val di Rezzalo is a must in late spring. On the St. Bernard plain the meadows are covered by bright yellow globeflowers, the mountain pines flower in the forest and rhododendrons set the mountainside ablaze with vermillion red flowers.
