Colombano and Valecetta. Perhaps two of the most well-trodden mountainsides in the Bormio area. And who could blame us? From up there the view over Bormio is spectacular.
Valdisotto is located just outside Bormio. It is made up of lots of tiny villages scattered at the feet and on the slopes of the Vallecetta and San Colombano mountains.
Of all the excursions that Valdisotto offers, here are 3 of the most scenic and representative of the area.
Path to the ‘Bei Laghetti’
The Bei Laghetti (literally, beautiful little lakes) are three Alpine lakes of the most vibrant colours! Some have even nicknamed them ‘the Maldives of Bormio’, and it really is no exaggeration.
The intensity of the blue of these lakes is astonishing.
The easiest way to reach the Bei Laghetti and the Profa lakes is to take the cable car to Bormio 3000 (3,012m). They are hidden among the rocky crags at around 2,750-2,650m altitude, but the path from the cable car station is all downhill.
It goes without saying that it's great fun on a mountain bike!
Malga di San Colombano - Oga
The trail from Oga to the Malga di San Colombano is among the most popular in Valdisotto.
Firstly, it's not very challenging. Secondly it’s sunny, but also cool as there is shade from the larch forest. And lastly, in just 1-2 hours it leads to the Ristoro San Colombano, where you can relax in the sunshine with a big plate of polenta or selection of local cheeses.

Lake Campaccio
We have never seen Lake Campaccio the same colour twice. It changes from dark blue to jade green depending on the season and weather.
The trail to reach this beautiful mountain lake just above the Monte area is pretty easygoing. It climbs from an altitude of around 1,600m to 2,300m above sea level.
