High Glaciological Trail

Created in part in 1995 to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the Italian Glaciological Committee, the trail winds through the Forni Valley in Valfurva arriving at the sight of the vast glacier front. Here a Tibetan bridge positioned over the Frodolfo stream will make for an exciting crossing while suspended over the rushing water flowing from the glacier. Discovering the glacier of the same name and understanding the natural events that originated the morphology of the valley. The trail also allows you to observe remnants of the First World War (1915-1918) Itinerary: from the locality i Forni at the first parking area on the right, descend briefly to the stream and cross the bridge following the glaciological trail signs and immediately afterwards climb a characteristic stone staircase. Follow the path that climbs gradually up the hillside until you come to an area with obvious remnants of military posts. From here the trail continues up and down until it reaches a small bridge. Continue along the hillside until the trail passes through a peculiar area with smooth rocks. Soon after, the trail descends to the valley floor thus going across the two characteristic Tibetan bridges. Now the trail gradually descends on the hydrographic right arriving at the small lake of Ro'sole. You soon climb to the Branca refuge for a well-deserved break and return to the Forni following the cartroad.
