The "Biblioteca civica popolare di Bormio" was founded in 1964 and opened to the public in 1969 in Palazzo De Simoni with a collection of about 150 volumes, on the initiative of the Associazione Amici di Bormio.
It has a patrimony of almost 36,000 documents.
It includes a children's section (0-14 years old), a section for young adults, a section of fiction and non-fiction for adults, a multimedia section, a local fund of over 4000 volumes, a fund of books in the original language of over 1000 volumes, a section containing special historical funds among which stands out the residual collection of the circulating popular library of Bormio, a manifestation of the national political project of popular acculturation implemented since the end of the nineteenth century.
The library is equipped with four multimedia stations, three of which have internet access.
The library organises training courses, cultural meetings and runs cultural volunteer projects.
