Taking this route gives you the opportunity to discover the ancient routes used by the "spalloni," the smugglers who since ancient times transported goods between Switzerland and Italy.
You leave by car from Gordona. From here take the carriage road that climbs to Val Bodengo (you need a pass, which can be purchased at the beginning of the climb at village bars or online valbodengo.shop). Reaching the parking lot at the end of the road (1635 m), leave the car and follow the signs marking the route to Alpe Notaro, where the bivouac of the same name is located about 1880 meters above sea level. When you reach the bivouac, climb another 200 meters in elevation until you reach the 2,098 meters of Bocchetta del Notaro.
