The lowest access point is in the municipality of Sondalo, but the undoubtedly most convenient point as a starting point is at the Eita refuge in Valgrosina, accessible by car and with ample parking. Following the route in the oraio direction, from Eita take path N201 ( Sentiero Italia) and climb up the Avedo Valley to the Dosdè pass, where there is the homonymous hut, an unmanaged refuge owned by the Cai Bormio recently renovated.
We continue downhill towards the Dosdè Valley to the Rifugio Federico, a must stop where you can recharge your batteries and rest. After a salute to the mythical Adrico Greco, continue up the Selva hump, always following the N208 trail and meeting the Selva lake, a little further on you descend towards the Val Verva and continue uphill to the Alpe Verva, where it is possible to refresh and spend the night. On the back of the malga goes up the path that will take you first to Passo delle Pecore and then to Bivacco Ferrario and then down to Alpe Boron, where the owner of the agriturismo , Lucia, will refresh you properly. It is also possible to stay overnight here.
You start again, always following path N208 and the green Alta Via signs, towards Malga Prei and then uphill to the Church of San Colombano, a characteristic little mountain church built in 1616 and destination of pilgrimages by the locals, and then off downhill to the San Colombano refreshment point and just beyond to Malga San Colombano, other unmissable spots where you can eat and sleep. From the Malga San colombano begins a long, very scenic traverse, coinciding with the Bormio 360 route, which will give you crazy views of the Magnifica Terra di Bormio! This area is unfortunately less rich in support points where you can eat and sleep, so it is a must to bring along some supplies and water, although it is present in several places. You will first encounter refreshment at Alpe Zandilla, where the friendly managers will pamper you properly.
Beyond Alpe Zandilla begins a pleasant climb that will take you up to the military vent, overlooked by several trenches in excellent condition. Down the wooden staircase inside the rock, you continue on the military mule track that will take you to the top of the 1987 Valpola landslide, a fascinating place where you can feel the power of the earth. From here the route continues downhill to the Alt malga, a panoramic knoll with a view of the Rezzalo Valley, and then ascends along the carriage road to the Pian delle Acque and the small lakes of Valàar and then to the Pozza, from where the descent to Stavello begins. You go towards li Maiadura and from there take the path that crosses several vallecole until you reach malga Fò, from which you continue to passo della Forcola and from here the last descent to Redasco and then arrival in Eita, where a stop at the fabriceria/shelter is a must.
