The Bormio Civic Library, in collaboration with the Culture Department, is organising "Una montagna di Parole - Leggi Bormio" (A mountain of words - Read Bormio), a series of meetings with various authors.
Reading and discussion of the book "I girasoli di Isabelle" (Isabelle's Sunflowers) by Alberto Magatti published by Cinquesensi.
Alberto Magatti skilfully ties together the theme of youthful prostitution consumed within domestic walls with the consequent psychological suffering that in Isabelle's case manifests itself in anorexia. The central ingredients of love, friendship and factory work are amalgamated with a good dose of hope and wisdom embodied here above all by Marcella, the housekeeper of Matteo's family who follows the events with a maternal eye and warmth. The worlds of the two protagonists, light years apart, intertwine in a plot that becomes complicated with a tinge of mystery that leads to a painful and unpredictable ending. Simple and detailed writing helps the reader to enter step by step into the lives of two young people who, in an attempt to overcome an unhappy past, will put all their love into the search for a longed-for happiness.
