Starting from Aprica, we climb to altitude using the Magnolta cable car. As soon as we get off the lift we find the start of the itinerary in front of us. The trail follows the dirt road in the first section, passing by the small lake dedicated to sport fishing, and reaches the Malga Magnolta farmhouse. From this point, the trail moves east and passing the agritourism we find the first thematic bulletin boards illustrating curiosities about wood and its many uses. We continue by entering the "Gran via del Gallo" crossing (during the winter, the crossings allow the Magnolta area to be joined at altitude with the Palabione area) and always keeping to the right we begin an easy ascent along the ski slope. At this point the route is very scenic and allows us to observe beautiful views of the Valtellina, the Orobian Alps, the Retiche and the nature reserve of Pian di Gembro.
After passing the statue dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine we reach the fork that comes off the ski slope and descends to the left.
The trail descends until it reaches the CAI Valtellina refuge.
